Since the start of the most recent recession in December 2007, the share of older working women has grown while the percentage of every other category of U.S. worker—by gender and age—has declined or is flat.

The intermodal volume up/carloads down trend continued for U.S. railroads in February’s first week. For the period ending Feb. 6, U.S. roads reported 241,680 carloads, down 11.7 percent, and 262,830 intermodal loads, up 10.5 percent compared with the same week in 2015, according to Association of American Railroads data.
Matt Rose, chairman and CEO of BNSF Railway, said a deal between Canadian Pacific and Norfolk Southern is unlikely because it would require buy-in from investors, rail labor, customers and public policy makers.
Although activity slowed slightly in the fourth quarter, total deal value for mergers and acquisitions in the transportation and logistics sector spiked 206 percent from the same 2014 period, according to a new report from PwC US.
U.S. railroads logged 242,670 carloads, down 16.6 percent, while intermodal volumes edged up 1.1 percent for the second week of 2016, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). For the week ending Jan. 16, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 506,433 carloads and intermodal units, down 8.2 percent compared with the same week last year.
Global Logistic Properties, the largest provider of modern logistics warehouses in China, said it aims to invest up to $7 billion in the logistics sector over the next four years, as it plans to set up its second China-focused logistics infrastructure fund with seven investors.
